Ron has titled column in the July/ August 2009 edition of Canadian Musician The Worth of A Musician.

Why?

Ron Davis New York Residency
July 21 2009
Ron Davis has taken up a 6 week residency in New York City this summer. While his home base in Toronto is a world class jazz city, New York is still a focal point for the music Ron makes.
Ron has been composing, planning new projects, and networking. "The idea has been to explore the great jazz scene there, meet people, get the name out, and get the music out," says Ron.
We'll keep you posted on the results of Ron's residency. Meanwhile, everyone at RonDavisMusic.com hopes you are having a great summer!

The Music and Arts School at University Settlement is proud to present Ron Davis, jazz pianist as this year’s Benefit Concert performer on Thursday, June 11th 2009. This is an “after work” event with doors opening at 6 p.m.
This event is being held at the studio of Charles Pachter, 22 Grange Avenue near University and Dundas in the heart of downtown Toronto. The event will be an intimate evening of food, drink, music, art and mingling with both musician and artist.
This fundraising event is in support of the University Settlement Music and Arts School. University Settlement is a multi-service agency that was founded in 1910 and has the distinction of being the first community-based social service centre in the City of Toronto. Located in the heart of downtown Toronto and bordering on the revitalized Grange Park, University Settlement is part of a culturally rich and vibrant neighbourhood. The Music and Arts School was founded in 1921, and is one of the first community music schools to be established in North America. We provide affordable, quality music programs to children, teens, adults and seniors in the GTA. We function in the belief that arts education should be a right, not a privilege, and that lessons should be available to everyone regardless of age, ethnicity, perceived talent, disability or ability to pay. The School provides an open house of learning in a welcoming, familial atmosphere.
All proceeds from this event will be used to support our many music programs and will assist us to keep our fees low and our quality high, which are our most important goals.
Tickets are $100.00. A charitable tax receipt in the amount of $75.00 will be issued. The ticket price also includes an autographed copy of Ron’s latest CD, The Bestseller, and guests will be free to wander in the galleries and enjoy the art work of Charles Pachter. Mr. Pachter has generously offered to donate a percentage of the proceeds of any sales of his art or books that are sold at this event to the Music and Arts School.
We hope that you will be able to join us for this very special evening. Tickets are limited. For more information or to purchase your ticket, please call Anne at 416- 598- 3444 extension 243 . A PDF evite is attached.

A brilliant adventure. On his latest recording, My Mother's Father's Song, Ron Davis embraces both his family's rich cultural heritage, and boldly re-engages with the jazz standard.
