RonDavisBlog - The Mission
November 01 2008

Welcome to my blog.

Music. Jazz. Classical. Arts. Piano. I love piano. Anti-fuzzy thinking. Anti-prefabricated positions. These will be the subjects of my blog. I'm sure I'll go lateral in no time, and turn into some backroad alleyways that seem far from my subjects. Such is the way of the mind.

A bit late in the day to start a blog, isn't it? I've been on the Net since 1986. I was a webmaster in 1995 (as an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto) when the web was still on training wheels. What took me so long to get here?

Blogging began, what, about 6 years ago. Now everyone blogs. Technocrati.com, the blog search engine, says it tracks 112.8 million blogs. Can my voice, anybody's voice, stand out now given the light pollution in the blogosphere?

I guess there words you're reading answer those questions I'm asking.

I'm hoping readers of htis blog will engage with my take on things. My writing style. My ways. I hope you'll be one of those readers. I hope you'll visit my blog often, and comment on my posts. I'd love suggestions for topics.

That is my mission with this blog. I'm looking forward to the dialogue.

Post #1 is in the can.

Many thanks-

Ron

A brilliant adventure. On his latest recording, My Mother's Father's Song, Ron Davis embraces both his family's rich cultural heritage, and boldly re-engages with the jazz standard.
